Well it was in January 2014 that my wife Mandy Rauch and I were sitting in a hallway at district office at the BCYD waiting to see if we were approved to move forward with "Light in Film" or not. As it turns out we were approved!
February 2014 we went out and made a video about what we're doing and established a meeting with Christians within the film industry to discuss what this looks like to them. It was an incredible night as the Holy Spirit changed the direction that we were going with the ministry. The heart stayed the same but strategy changed.
Throughout the rest of winter through to spiring we waited for my credentials to be "recommended without reservation." Months went by and we were finally good to go as my theology lined up with the fellowship we're with. Then in Spring we we're commissioned out at our district conference in May of 2014.
We made a weekend trip to Seattle to meet with some leaders who stared the LA underground Bible study. This trip was amazing! Life changing! We got to obtain some incredible wisdom from some incredible leaders in the kingdom.
We began to study on how to fundraise, as this ministry is solely funded by donations. And as we stared to fundraise a team slowly began to build. People with the same heart that felt a desire to serve in this ministry. As a team we went on an weekend prayer and fasting up-the-mountain trip. We came down from "Fire" Mountain and our vision was clearer and better.
Fundraising started to become a normal part of our life and we ended up sitting down with over 80 individuals and over 180 people delivered with our message and vision. We went to Creston BC and had a vision night with a vision breakfast at a local church.
Jesse Hutch and myself traveled up to Creston BC in October of 2014 and spoke at the vision night and breakfast. This weekend, we travelled up on faith with no money to get there, but God provided. Same for coming home, we had no money to get home. Then I got the old Pentecostal-handshake, slipping me a couple Borden's. Jesus was so faithful to us that weekend. And we walked away with a new message from the Lord about culture and why this ministry is so important to Canada.
From there, we had a Red Carpet Event on November 22 in Langley BC. Over 180 People RSVP'd to the event with 109 showing up. The night was amazing and so much fun! People were moved, people partnered with us and so many connections began to come to life.
Since the week before the “Red Carpet Event” is when it all really started. Out of the blue there was a demand for entertainment industry people to start meeting for community and discipleship. One month later, there’s roughly over a hundred people that have said they want to meet. This of course has come as a shock to us, as we were expecting to meet in about a year or two from now. All of a sudden there’s this organic momentum and push to meet! Vancouver is hungry for what we are offering. Which of course is Jesus and everything about Him.
Jesse Hutch was at a UBCP (actor's union) meeting in December. And they had an open mic for those who wanted to express some thoughts. Jesse felt the Holy Spirit say to go up in front of everyone (150 people) and tell them about "Light In Film." So he told them what we are planning to do and why, and the response was "OFF THE HOOK!" People cheered and shouted with excitement as Jesse walked off the stage when he was finished. People flocked around him after the meeting saying, "We need this" and "I know someone who needs this," and so much more! Another person came up to him and said that about 50 people met in November to discuss these issues and how they can support each other, and want to combined the 2 meetings. Thats 50 plus non-believers already to attend our first meeting. Praise God for this evening! Momentum is waving through the city! Get Ready as we continue to be willing to the Lord's will. Thank you Jesse for your obedience to Jesus!
Get ready for 2015!
